Hi everyone! My name is Panjit. Today, I’d like to share my experience of having cosmetic surgery for the very first time. The main reason I decided to have double eyelid surgery was because, although I already had double eyelids, they were hidden creases. When I opened my eyes, they often looked like single eyelids. I also had quite a lot of fat on my upper eyelids, so whenever I did my eye makeup, I had to draw my eyeliner very close to the upper lash line. Even then, my eyes still didn’t look as bright and fresh as I wanted.

When it was time for my surgery, I arrived at the clinic and started by filling out my medical history form and changing into a surgical gown.
After that, the staff explained the post-operative care instructions in detail, including how to take the prescribed medication, how to apply cold and warm compresses, how to clean and apply ointment to the surgical area, which foods to avoid, how long to keep the area away from water, and when I could start wearing makeup again. The staff went through everything carefully and made sure I understood the instructions. Once that was done, I received my medication and was ready for the next step.
BASELINE EYE: hidden eyelids, uneven eyes, excess skin that covered the eyelid crease, and skin covering the inner corners of my eyes. These issues made my eyes look less elongated and proportionate, and they didn’t look as bright and fresh as I wanted them to.
When I met the doctor, I was given a detailed consultation and learned more about the specific issues with my eyes. I learned that as we get older, the skin around the eyelids can gradually become less firm and droop down, covering the eyelid crease. Combined with the excess fat on the upper eyelids, this can make the crease less visible and cause double eyelids to become hidden, making the eyes appear more like single eyelids.
This is also why some people use double eyelid tape to create a more visible crease. However, it may not always look completely natural. After discussing my concerns with the doctor, I decided that double eyelid surgery was the option that suited me best. The doctor also recommended removing excess fat from the eyelids to help create a more defined and long-lasting eyelid crease.
The doctor also recommended inner corner surgery, or epicanthoplasty, to remove the excess skin covering the inner corners of my eyes. This helps make the eyes look more elongated and open, creating a more balanced eye shape.
Once everything was ready, I tried to stay relaxed and not worry too much. Honestly, double eyelid surgery wasn’t as painful as I had imagined. There was only a little discomfort when the local anesthetic was injected, and the doctor was very gentle. After the anesthesia took effect, I didn’t really feel anything. The whole procedure didn't take a long time. The surgery was finished before I knew it!
LOVELY EYE 1 MONTH
Now, let’s take a look at the changes in my eyes. One month after having double eyelid surgery together with epicanthoplasty, my eyes looked noticeably bigger and brighter. The excess skin was no longer drooping over the eyelid crease, and the crease was much more clearly defined. My eyes also looked more elongated, and I could experiment with different makeup looks more easily.
I felt much more confident, and people around me started noticing the change too. They would ask, “Your eyes look so pretty! Where did you have them done?”
For anyone worried that eyelid surgery means having to be extremely careful with everything or being unable to go out because people might notice the incision, I don’t think you need to worry too much. In my experience, the incisions looked neat and the swelling was minimal, so it was barely noticeable that I had undergone surgery.
For aftercare tips, the most important steps were keeping the wounds dry, taking the prescribed medication as instructed, and applying cold compresses during the first few days. After just a few days, the wounds had already started to dry and heal. My eyes settled down quite quickly.
LOVELY EYE 1.5 MONTHS
After another two weeks, my eyelid creases had settled even more. Just one and a half months after surgery, my eyes already looked very natural. At this point, it was difficult for other people to tell that I had undergone eyelid surgery.
LOVELY EYE 3 MONTHS
At first, I thought it would take much longer for my eyes to fully settle, but in my case, after just three months, the eyelid creases had settled nicely and looked very natural. My double eyelid crease was now clearly defined, so I no longer had to worry about hidden eyelids or constantly use double eyelid tape. Having a more defined crease also made doing my eye makeup much easier.
