Reasons why I decided to get double eyelid surgery:
1. Hidden single eyelid
A hidden single eyelid, often called “Asian monolid,” is common among people of Chinese descent or many Asians. This type of eye shape typically has no visible crease and often comes with excess eyelid skin or fat that pushes the crease inward, making the eyelid appear as a hidden fold. In my case, it made my eyes look smaller and eye makeup was difficult. I often had to use eyelid tape to create a crease.
2. Droopy eyelids covering the creases
Droopy eyelids can occur due to fat accumulation inside the eyelid and excess skin. This causes the eyelid skin to sag and cover the crease, making the eyes look smaller and narrower. In more severe cases, it may even affect vision.
3. Uneven eyes
My eyes were uneven because the amount of excess skin and fat in each eyelid was different, causing the eyelid creases to appear uneven. The doctor explained that in some cases, uneven eyes can also be caused by natural differences in eye structure.
